live the wild westWelcome to 50 Mile Ranch! Come in and take a good look around. Our working cattle ranch is in a very remote area, only accessible from a few places. It’s not a “pamper-me” ranch; it’s hard work. If we don’t make it to a designated campspot by the time it’s time to make camp, we adjust and roll out the sleeping bags wherever it looks good. This is bonafide “roughing it”. We eat dutch oven meals of potatoes, steak, chicken, beans, cobbler, etc and when you sleep, the stars are the roof of your tent.

This is real ranch life. Sometimes you get stuck in the mud, or the truck breaks down. Sometimes you can’t find all the cows. Other times, you have so many calves to work, you can’t get the work done in one day and you finish cleaning up by headlamp, ready to hit the sack. After a good meal, you do just that, ready to wake up and work again in the morning.

You put in long days, but that’s ranching. And when it’s all over, you get a sense of true accomplishment– a sort of brotherhood– because you’re a part of the REAL west. And you should be proud of what you do, because it’s not easy. This is where true growth and memories happen.
